War Poetry

Hello, I am Himanshi Parmar, here writing a blog on general analysis of War poetry, comparison of the war poems entitled "The Fear" and "The soldier". Comparison of writing style of chosen war poets. I am writing this answers as a part of thinking activity or bridge course, given as a part of academic work. I hope my blog will be helpful to you!

1) What is your understanding of War Poetry?

Generally, war poetry is a poetry related to war or it's subject is war. This kind of poems are mainly written by Soldiers to express their emotions like frustration, sadness, anger, nervousness, fear, etc. Along with soldiers, sometimes, nurses and doctors are also used to write war poetry. We can say that, war poetry is something which is written by the people who have seen what really happens on battlefield with their own eyes and then write their experience through the form of poetry.

Since the time of Greek, people used to write war poems. But during the first world war, the war poetry came out as a one seperate gener. Hundreds of soldiers used to write poem about their own experience of war and people used to read it with full intrest and this how this gener become popular. Main idea we find of this kind of poems is about a "Anti - War". This kind of poems are written on a subjects like, Pity, compassion, humanity, truthfulness, innocence, peace, guilt, identity, patriotism, death, desires, separation etc.

2.) Note down the difference of all the War Poets.

Wilfred Owen :- Horror of trench, gas warfare, loss of faith, fear of death.

Rupert Brooke :- Patriotism, Unbroken Glory.

Wilfrid Wilson Gibson :- Guilt, Madness, death, Injury, sense of identity.

Siegfried Sassoon :- death, Horror, sympathy for soldiers, Religious Authority.

Ivor Gurney :- Grueling Monotony of day - to - day military life., Religious authority.

3.) Compare any two poems with reference to the subject, style of writing and patriotism.

              1] The fear

About the poet :-

Wilfred Owen Full name of Wilfred Owen is Wilfred Edward Salter Owen MC. He was a great English poet along with soldier. He was one of the most important poet of World War one. Wrote most of the works based on his personal experience. His works like, Dulce et Decorum est, Strange meeting, Anthem for Doomed youth, Futility, Spring Offensive etc.

Mainly, Wilfred Owen is known for his Verse, which are written on a subject of horror and trench and gas warfare. He was also inspired by many poets like, William Butler Yeats, Keats and Shelley. Owen wrote poem about his personal experience with the combination of romantic notion , which made his poem sympathetic. Which make his writing different than other war poets. Among his all poems, only five are published during his life time.

Subject of poem :-

The fear is very short eight line poem, the poem is about a soldier. Who is challenging death. And refuse the fear of death. As poet write that,

"I do not fear to die".

Then he said that, I am standing underneath the sky to meet death and to fight with it face to face. This shows his courage. And and strong desire to die for country. As he wrote,

" Neath the open sky,
To meet death in the fight,
Face to face, upright."

Then he further wrote about the pain of death. When will the soldier creep In the dark valley, for whom here poet use the word "Hole", and then he will tremble, get cold with dread, and then maybe he wakeup dead. Even if his death will might be painful,he will not feel the pain, they will might Die, but they will happy at last that they die for their nation. The death will be satisfactory for them. This how the poem sing a song of patrimony. Last line indicate this,

"But when at last we creep,
Into a hole to sleep,
I tremble, cold with dread,
Lest I wake up dead."

Style of writing :-

"The fear" is very short poem divided into OCTAVE, rhyme scheme of the poem is AABBCCDD. Central theme of the poem is Courage, Patriotism, Fearlessness, and War effects.

In this poem, poet shows his deep love for his nation, and for that his is ready to die for his nation. He challanges to death which show his courage and fearlessness. The poem written with the indication of future. The poem is one of the shortest poem, but it gives a great message of patriotism, courage, and destroy the fear of death.

Patriotism :-

In this poem, we find strong fragment of patriotism. It is not about just a poet, but it also about all the soldiers who are sacrificing their life for their nation. For them nation come first then their selves, family, their desires, everything come after the nation. And the shadow of this patriotism, we find in the poem in which poet challange death and says that he will die proudly for the nation. The one who sacrifice his invaluable life, is anything greater than this? The entire poem is blossoming with the fragment of Patriotism.

2] The Soldier by Rupert Brooke :-

About the poet:-

Rupert Brooke was a most handsome English poet of the 18th century. He was known for his idealistic war Sonnets, which wrote during the first world war. W.b.yeats describe him as "The handsomest young man in England." Main Themes of his poems are love, nature, death, immortality, patriotism etc. His famous poems are,

1) The Soldier
2) The great Lover
3) The death
4) Heave
5) The Old Vicarage, Grantchester.

Subject of the poem :-

This poem is a command of poet to everyone. He indicates that if I should die, thik only this of me, and shows his strong desire of dying in his motherland only. He says that, even if I die in any alien land, the corner where I will buried, think that is for ever England.

He use the word rich earth and richer dust for England, which shows his deep love towards England. He wrote that,

"In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;

A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,..."

Here, poet sing a song of England and praising England. He give description of his body which made up by England and breathing English air. He says that, England give him a proper place to grow in a best way, gave him a flowers to love, and gave him a way to roam. In short, poet get everything from England, which he wants. And he is satisfied and happy for what England gave him. So he wrote that, I have a body of England's and I am breathing English air. Even if I am not in England and fighting in any other foreign land.

He further praise England by saying that, he was bath in Rivers, blest by suns of home, and that removes all evil sheds of his heart. He remember in his eternal mind, he remember her sights and sounds, happy dreams, laughter, friends, gentleness, and the peacefulness of heart. And in the last line.he consider that at last where he is buried it becomes English heaven.because he himself carry England within him.

"And laughter, learnt of
Friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace,
Under an English Heaven."

Here, poet might be in a fight of any other country and he recalling his memories and time which he spent in England. And missing his motherland.

Here is the video of this poem recitation.

Style of writing :-

The soldier is well known Sonnet of Rupert Brooke, The poem written in Iambic pentameter, divided into an octave and sestet. The Octave rhymed after the Shakespearean or Elizabethan. Rhymed as ABABCDCD. While sestet follows the Petrarchan or Italian rhyme, EFGEFG.

The poem was published in 1915, with the title of "1914 and other poems". The poem includes the theme of love, death, separation, patriotism, sacrifice etc.

Patriotism :-

This poem is also about patriotism of the poet, similar as we see in The fear. But we find difference also. In The fear, poet sing a song of his own patriotic feeling, and his desire of dying for country, while here in The Solder, poet sing a song of England and his love for England. So subject wise both the poems are different. Here poet exaggerate his love for England by saying that,

"That there's some corner of foreign field,
That is for ever England."

But this lines also shows his deep love towards his nation. He also mentioned that,

"A body of England's, breathing English air,"

In which he Indicates that, even if I am in alien land, my body is of forever England, and what I am breathing is English air. Which shows that, for him, there is nothing more than England, even if he die in foreign land, the corner where he buried become forever England. Again just like the poem, "The fear", we find strong fragment of patriotism here.

4.) Do you find any such regional poem/movies/web series/songs which can be compared to any one of the poems given here. Also, give a proper explanation of the similarity.

I want to compare the Bollywood song, Aisa des hai mera with The Soldier poem by Rupert Brooke.
Both the songs are about praising of motherland. Let me here compare both.

1] Aisa des hai mera :-

Poem The Soldier :-

If I should die, think only this of me:
That there’s some corner of a foreign field
That is for ever England. There shall be
      In that rich earth a richer dust concealed;
A dust whom England bore, shaped, made aware,
      Gave, once, her flowers to love, her ways to roam;
A body of England’s, breathing English air,
Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home.

And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
            Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.

Comparison :-

Asa desh banade is a hindi, Bollywood song, From the movie Veer zara (2004). The song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar, udit narayan, prita mazmudar, Gurudas maan. The film start with Punjabi lines,
किन्ना सोणा देश है मेरा देश है मेरा देश है मेरा देश है मेरा| which indicate that the song is sung to praise a nation. Similarly we find a lines of The soldier, "under an English heaven." Wich we find that, here also poet praising the England, while in song poet praising India.

In song poet give some descriptions of beauty of women, chirping birds, greenery of Farms, great love stories of people, relationships of father and son, respect for guest, and a fertile soil etc. And says that this all live within the heart of every Indian as a beautiful image. Similarly in The Soldier, The poet shows the image of heavenly England which he carries in within his heart. So that how also the poem is similar to song. And also we find strong patriotism in both the writings, respect for nation, dedication for nation as well as faith in nation.

This how i found both the song Asa desh banade and the poem The soldier similar.

The Waste Land

Hello, I am Himanshi Parmar. Here i am writing blog on general understanding of The Waste land by T. S. Eliot. And about some of the important questions related this like Themes, critical analysis etc. The blog i am writing as a part of thinking activity.

The waste land is a well known poem of 20th century, written by T.S.Eliot. The poem published in 1922. And written in 434 lines. The poem includes many Greek, Christian, Hindu myths. Along with many Allusions. If we read, we find that the poem is very complex to understand and also written in very long form.

About the poem :-

The waste land, is represente a life of London in aftermath of the first world war. And it gives imagery of various landscapes including oceans, deserts, forest, and bustling metropolis. The entire poem is divided into five sections,

1) The Burial of the Dead

2)A Game of Chess

3) The Fire Sermon

4) Death by water

5) What the Thunder Said

Let me here discuss all in short.

1) The Burial of the Dead :-

The poem is start with the pessimistic voice, "April is the cruellest month". And speaker talks about how April/spring is awful time and speaker recalls old memories and unfulfilled desires. Then the poem introduce a woman Marie. And shift into childhood memories of her. Then suddenly, it is a description of the room of madame Sosostris, who read fortune. And then suddenly it turns into a crowd of people, flowing over London bridge. Moving like zombies.

2) A Game of Chess :-

In this part, we find setting of glittery room of a lavish woman, and there we find a image of "The change of Philomel", related with Greek mythology, in which Philomel was raped by King Tereue and later she change into the nightingale. This section ends When two women chatting, during the closing time at the bar.

3) The fire Sermon :-

The section opens when speaker, feeling bad, and thinking about merciful world. Here in this section, we come to know about the name of speaker, the name of him is Tiresias, the character is taken from myth . Who is a blind prophet. Who turned into a woman for seven years by the curse of goddess Hera.

4) Death of Water :-

This scene introduce a dead sailor named Phlebas decays at the bottom of the ocean. And it give us such kind of message of mortality.

5) What the Thunder said :-

In this part, we see two persons are walking and suddenly they realise that someone is looking behind, but when they look behind, the shadow disappears. Then we suddenly see thunder and its noise seems to say three words : DATTA, DAYADHVAM, DAMYATA. Which is a command to human, devil and god, command of , GIVE, SYMPATHIZE, CONTROL. At last poem ends with the words, Shati, shanti, Shanti.

1) What are your views on the following image after reading 'The Waste Land'? Do you think that Eliot is regressive as compared to Nietzche's views? or Has Eliot achieved universality of thought by recalling mytho-historical answer to the contemporary malaise?

Eliot has achieved universality of thoughts by recalling mytho - Historical answer to the contemporary malaise. If we see, we find that The Wast land is ultimate answer of our present day's problem. The waste land is giving the vision of some problems like 1) sexual perversion, 2) loss of faith and moral value, 3) lack of human relationship, 4) Commercialization of life, 5) mental tension, 6) Politics and War. Let me discuss it in point.

1) sexual perversion :-

In The Waste land, Eliot express decay in the society, decay of sexual perversion, lust of sexuality. He explain it by several examples. He write about German princess in the first part, who has many sex relationships with many man. And this how she hold her position as queen. This is the parallel to the love affair of queen Elizabeth. Eliot also make satire on high society and lust of them for sex. Eliot mention it in the Career of the lady of situation. In second part, Eliot mention about the story of lil, who is representing lower class. And the love relationship between typist girl and her boyfriend. We also see a myth of Philomel - la - barbarous king Terues. Who seduce sister of her queen and then the lady turned into the nightingale. Also we can interpret that, The Fire Sermon, which Eliot mentioned is about the lust of sex. In Which the entire Europe is burning.

"To Carthage then I came

Burning burning burning burning."

2) loss of faith and morality :-

Eliot here satarize the modern generation, because he thinks that, faith is lost with the time. In ancient time, people inspire by faith only.they deeply believe in Christianity, their character, moral values, their kindness is regarded as more important than money and success. But now money is overpowered everything among this, we can say people believe in just one God, that is the "money". Prayer, church are all become just part of routine. People become greedy and they lost their kindness. Compassion are no longer part of life. And this change by modernization, Eliot try to portray in the poem. When we read the poem, we find that, Eliot also want to give message of being humble and message of faith.

3) Lack of human relationship :-

Eliot also make us aware about the change in human relations. In the last section poet mentions that we are like Coriolanus and embodiment of selfishness. And each one is imprisoned in his own self. And become self-centred and lost the key of brotherhood and compassion, sympathy towards others. Also in ancient time we find that people carry some loyalty towards nation also.but in contemporary time all are become just self centred and look for their own benifit by doing someone's bad also. For this poet wrote that,

"We think of the key, each In his prison,
Thinking of the key, each confirms a prison".

4) Mental tension :-

In a second section, named A Game of Chess. We find a problem of sex perversion. And we find that, high society ladies are tired and frustrated by their boring life and has become extremely neurotic. Their lovers are also suffer by similar problem. Which we see in this lines,

"I think we are in rat's aley

Where the dead men lost their bones."

Which reflects the present situation, where each one is suffering by mental illness and worry and anxiety of earning, problem of relations, of job, of health, of households and many more. We also find all this things In another section of poem, where Lil has become hopeless and lost her intrest in life. And her abortion ruined her health and she feel physically and mentally broken and extremely tired. Which reflects the situation of present time women again.

2) Prior to the speech, Gustaf Hellström of the Swedish Academy made these remarks:
What are your views regarding these comments? Is it true that giving free vent to the repressed 'primitive instinct' lead us to happy and satisfied life? or do you agree with Eliot's view that 'salvation of man lies in the preservation of the cultural tradition'?

Yes, it is true that giving free vent to the repressed primitive instinct lead us to happy and satisfied life. But sometimes our behaviour harm others, and it gives us happiness, similarly someone eles behaviour give them happiness but hurt us.so if we think this statement is true but it depends on individual. Also some times giving primitive instinct lead the world towards anarchy. But as Eliot told us to follow cultural tradition and it lead us to eternal happiness, is seems quite true.because by believing some morality, we get lessons of comparison, pity. Which develops understanding among the people and which can create peaceful life and peaceful land to live for all. So somewhere Eliot's point is better than Freud.

3) Write about allusions to the Indian thoughts in 'The Waste Land'. (Where, How and Why are the Indian thoughts referred?)

When I read the poem, I found many Indian references in this, some of them I have mention below.

1) The Fire Sermon :-

Third section of the poem is entitled as "The Fire Sermon", which is directly taken from the Buddha's sermon. A sacred book of buddhism named Adittapariyaya sutta. And in which he discussed about the liberation from the pain and suffering. Eliot use fire as a metaphor. Which reflects the fire of sexual
perversion in the world.

2) refrence of Himalaya and river Ganga :-

Eliot also give refrence of Ganga and Himalaya. Ganga symbolise purification and himaalay as peacefulness of mind and spirituality. India and its rivers and mountains are referred in very positive light by Eliot. As we see In the lines of poem.

Ganga was sunken, and the limp leaves,
Waited for rain, while the black clouds,

Gathered far distant, over Himavant.
The jungle crouched, humped in silence,

Then spoke the thunder.

Three Da :-

Then in the last section we find the refrence of thunder which is related to indian myth. Which is in Brihadaranyka Upnishad. Bramha is consider as a Prajapati, who is a creator. Prajapati has three childrens,
1) Devas
2) Danavas
3) Humans

And to command them, they give message through the thunder, whom all these three are interpret as a Da. So they get tree Da. And all this three Da give one specific command. Like Datta for Devas, Dayadhvam for Danavas, and Damayata for Humans. And meaning of all three is, give, self sacrifice and self - control. Here Eliot take this refrence to give some moral message to people.

Shanti, Shanti, Shanti :-

Poem ends with the word "Shanti, Shanti, Shanti." Which is very much used phrase in sanskrit language. This three shanti is indicating the peace for what poet pinning In world of chaos, in world of anarchy.

4) Is it possible to read 'The Waste Land' as a Pandemic Poem?

Yes, we can able to see The Waste land as a pandemic poem. Indirectly we find the refrence of Spanish flu, in which by 1920, 500 millions people had been infected and 50 millions died. More than the soldiers died in the war.

The poem begin with the line, "April is the cruellest month". Which ultimately refrence to the beginning of Spanish flu of that time. To read more about this (Click here )

Verbal Analysis of gujrati poem, "આ મનપાંચમના મેળામાં" by Ramesh Parekh.

Hello everyone, I am Himanshi Parmar, here i am writing a blog on verbal analysis of one gujrati famous poem "મનપાંચમના મેળામાં", by Ramesh Parekh. Which is a part of Indian poetics,i am analysing this poem as a part of thinking activity. Here is a video about study of Indian Poetics by prof.Vinod Joshi, A great gujrati poet.

Original poem :-

I have recite the poem and here i put the video, do watch.

Scientific study/Misunderstanding :-

When we read this poem, it seems so lyrical and give us such kind of zeal, but when we interprete it or try to understand their meaning, at that time we find that, it fully filled with unreal imaginations, so that scientific reading decrease the importance of poem. For example in very first line. "આ મનપાંચમના મેળામાં સૌ જાત લઈને આવ્યા છે,
કોઈ આવ્યા છે સપનું લઈને, કોઈ રાત લઈને આવ્યા છે." We see here that there is nothing like 'મનપાંચમનો મેળો',  kind of word in gujrati, it means nothing. But here poet took that word as a 'fair of mind'. Which is not possible in actual. Then he further wrote that, some come with dream, some with night, which again is a surreal imagination.

In next stanza he wrote that, "અહીં પયગંબરની જીભ જુઓ, વેચાય છે બબ્બે પૈસામાં",  paygambar is messenger of god, and it is not possible to sell the tongue of him. But may be poet tries to say that, the message, which god passes through paygambar, are forgotten by people, or people interprete it in their own way, so that the real core of the message effacement from world. And to make people aware about their fault poet wrote this kind of words here.

   Then if we see next stanza, '
Here he use word, 'ચશ્મા જેવી આંખોથી', which again a problematic, people can wear glasses but how someones eyes is like glasses! Similarly in second line he use word, 'અભણ હોઠો',  people can be illiterate, lips cannot. So again the words are sounds problematic.

Also if we see words like, ખિસ્સું અજવાળું, મુઠ્ઠી પતંગિયા,લીલીસુકી આંખોની મીરાત, ધસમસતો ખાલી ચહેરો, ભરચક શ્વાસો, અણિયાળી વાત, this all words are give us some surreal imagery. It is something which is not possible according to science. And when we read and interprete the poem scientifically, the value of the poem decrease. But it is very much important that rather reading from just one point of view, we must have to read it by literary vision also.

Literary Analysis :-

1) rasa theory :-

Bharata wrote treaties on rasa and in that he wrote that, 'નિયતિકૃત નિયમરહિતામ્...'  Rasa is something beyond the understanding, we can not define it, but feel it. Also we can able to assume that what other can feel. And we can guess by our own experience about similar situation. Bharata also wrote about the producing process of rasa, "વિભાનુભાવ વ્યભિચારી સંયોગાત રસનિષ્પત્તી",..When i read this poem, the rasa which i feel, is the rasa of disparity and sometimes pessimism. May be poet wrote it with some other flow of feeling. Rasa is all about individuality, one can not feel, as similar as me, i can not feel as similar as other. So it creat individual impact on each one.

2) Dhavni :-

Rasa is something beyond the language, but dhvani is all about language. Interpretation of any sentence or lines is depends on speaking style of it. Dhvani is something which is not spoken and still understandable by listeners. In this poem, poet wrote that,
In this lines poet can not directly say that everyone is suffering from broken relations or broken dreams. And still when we read the line, we easily understand and easily connect with us which he want to say.

Similarly in last stanza he wrote that,
When we read this line we easily feel suffering and pain of poet. Which is not even told. So dhvani is something which is a base of  interpretation.

3) Vakrokti :-

Kuntaka in his treatise wrote that, વક્રોક્તિ જીવીત્તમ. Give definition of vakrokti, and wrote that, "વિશિષ્ટ ભંગીભણીતી". Which means, the meaning which is not direct but indirect. Alacrity is base of Vakrokti. Each sentence which give some hidden message which called Vakrokti. in this poem, ફુગ્ગાનું ફૂટવું, દોરાનું તૂટવું, ફાડી ખાનારુ એકાંત, ઉભડક લાગણીઓ, માણસો હોવાનો આઘાત, which all are spark us somewhere in deep. And give some individual meaning to each one.

4) Alamkara :-

Bhamaha wrote, "kavyalamkara", in which he discussed about Alamkara. Language is it self a Alamkara, no literature written without a use of alamkar. Here in this poem. Also poet use alamkara.here in, અભણ હોઠો, illiterate is Alamkara of lips,in, ચશ્માં જેવી આંખો, glasses is Alamkara of eyes.in મૂઠી પતંગિયાં, feistiness is Alamkara for butterfly. Also we find many other words like, મનપાંચમના મેળામાં, પયગંબરની જીભ,ફાડી ખાનારું એકાંત, ઝરમર છાંયડીઓ, ઉભડક લાગણીઓ, this all have alampkara.

5) Riti :-

According to Vamana riti is superior and most important in literature. Every writer or poet writing in their own style. And those who are not able to creat their own style they are imitate the style of other. If we analyse this poem, we see that it is also written in its different style. We find rhyme of the words. And each stanza is written of two lines.

6) Aucitya :-

If The work is written in a proper formate, that work include in this Aucitya. According to Ksemendra, any literary work should be written in proper formate, structure wise, beauty wise, use of figurative, flow of emotions, each and everything should be proper. In this poem the aim of Aucitya got success. If we see, all the way the poem fit in this parameters.

Poetic expression :-

When i listen this poem first, it gives my mind thrill and my heart a zeal. The words like, મિરાત, અણોસરા, હીજરાવું, are difficult to understand for me. But the basic idea or what poet tries to say is get clear in my mind. When first i read the poem, i found that, the poem is give such kind of pessimistic tone and dismal feeling. Also the poem is written in satire, satire on humanity, satire on spirituality and give us a universal idea of mortality. This we found in this lines,

Also the poem talks that, everyone are exist with different qualities, different nature, different mindset. We can interprete that all are different in the world. But as much as i read the poem i come to know that, pessimistic voice is became so strong. And poet try to say that, good people are less, but more people are exist with devil qualities. This we find in the last line of the poem, as he wrote,

According to me through the poem, poet try to make us realize about humanity, and want to lead us towards spirituality. Also give us message to be kind and to behave kindly with everyone.

Bob Dylan and Robert Frost

Hello, I am Himanshi Parmar, student of MK Bhavnagar University. This blog i have written in a response of Thinking Activity, Which is a Part of my academic Work. Which we get after each unit. Here i am sharing one video which was made by me by merging 5-6 small videos. And i put one song which i like the most and which is relatable with my video. And also going to write that, Which Poem or Song of Bob Dylan/Robert Frost is relatable with my Video. Why?

Merge the five chosen shots and upload the video on your YouTube channel with any background music you like.

Here i merge some videos and add music in it. The lyrics of my music is,

Lyrics

Ek din aap yu hamako mil jaaege

Phul hi phul raaho me khil jaaege

Maine sochaa na thaa

Ek din aap yu hamako mil jaaege

Phul hi phul raaho me khil jaaege

Maine sochaa na thaa

Ek din zindagi itani hogi hasi

Jhumegaa aasamaa gaaegi ye zami

Ek din zindagi itani hogi hasi

Jhumegaa aasamaa gaaegi ye zami

Maine sochaa na thaa

Dil ki daali me kaliyaa khilane lagi

Jab nigaahe nigaaho se milane lagi

Dil ki daali me kaliyaa khilane lagi

Jab nigaahe nigaaho se milane lagi

Ek din is tarah hosh kho jaaege

Paas aaege madahosh ho jaaege

Maine sochaa na thaa

Ek din aap yu hamako mil jaaege

Phul hi phul raaho me khil jaaege

Maine sochaa na thaa

Jagamagaati chandani raat hai

Raat hai yaa sitaaro ki baaraat hai

Jagamagaati chandani raat hai

Raat hai yaa sitaaro ki baaraat hai

Ek din dil ki raaho me apane lie

Jal uthege mohabbat ke itane die

Maine sochaa na thaa

Ek din zindagi itani hogi hasi

Jhumegaa aasamaa gaaegi ye zami

Maine sochaa na thaa

Ek din aap yu hamako mil jaaege

Phul hi phul raaho me khil jaaege

Maine sochaa na thaa

Maine sochaa na thaa

Maine sochaa na thaa

This song was sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik. It was published as a movie song. In the movie 'Yes Boss', in 1999. The song is basically Love song. But it talks about hope, Faith, eternal Happiness, endless joy, unbreakable Bond and trust in bond, and many more. Even it includes lot many nature elements which blanch the song. Let me discuss some of the questions regarded this.

(1)Write down the message you want to give from your lyrics.

Starting lines of the song are sang by the female, who addresses her beloved and told him that what joy, what happiness, he gave her and how she is feeling now. She told that she get more than she expect from her beloved. In the starting lines, 'Ek din aap yu hamako mil jaaege, Phul hi phul raaho me khil jaaege'. i am able to interprete that here the writer wants to say that, life will get more easier when we are with our closeones or beloved. And every trouble, problems become easy to face.

'Maine sochaa na thaa', This line shows that she get more than she expect.then in the very next lines, 'Ek din zindagi itani hogi hasi, Jhumegaa aasamaa gaaegi ye zami', we find some surrealist thoughts, sky can not dance, earth can not sing. But this lines represent eternal joy within the speaker. 'Dil ki daali me kaliyaa khilane lagi', which again reflect the eternal, extreme hope and love for closeone. Which represented as a metaphor of burgeon in heart. Also when i heard this song i feel some kind of positivity in me. And the lyrics reflect positive vibes all around.

Along with this i have merged some of the videos, which are captured by me. And which i found related with the song. Each video has it's own different interpretation. Let me interprete that all,

1) first video is of shadow which is waving in the water. It says that, our life is also like this waves. Sometimes we go up, sometimes we fall down. But our life goes on in rhythm and creating one music wich we can call our identity. Everyone is different than other. And each one has their own music of life. Each one is flowing in one particular rhythm. But it is on us that how we listen music of our life. We enjoy it or not, we feel melody in it or not, we sang it in joy or in sorrow, or in frustration, is totally upon us.

2) in second video, there is one sailor who rowing the boat. By this video we interprete that, we should have to decide one destination, or if we have already our destination decided. then we have to walk for that relentlessly. Also it says that, do not loose hope in between the bitterness of world. Here in the video, the sea is symbolize as a bitter world. And the sailor is a struggler, who is struggling for achieving his destination.

3) Third video is of Birds flying in a bunch. Who are flying freely from earth to sky. Above the water, close to sun. and in a flow of wind. Which gave us real meaning of freedom. They don't have any fear of tumbling, fear of heat, fear of tomorrow, regret of past, fear of time, And have no boundaries. They enjoying "now" only. Sometimes in tension of future, we missed out our precious present. We always try to make our future beautiful, but we don't see that the time we are living now is also a precious and beautiful and will never come back. So we have to understand the value of present and should live our life freely from the fear of future or anything eles. Each moment is expensive and we have to spent it for some quality work.

4) Next video is of flowing water carrying some flowers and twigs. And also water changing colour from gray to blue. This is something our state of mind, which i want to compare with it. Our thought are constantly flowing like a flowers and twigs in mind. Flowers represent positive thoughts of mind and twigs represent ill thoughts. Change of color of water representing our mood swings. Like sometimes its gray, pale. And sometimes its charming blue. Then again gray... That how it change. But every Change is normal. It should be understandable.

5) Then the next video is of puppies, we see two puppies in that, among them one is trying to cross the hole and failed and then he choose another way. Which want to reflect some kind of courage and faith in oneself. And give us a message that "never loose a hope", if you find one door closed, another one is already opened for you, you just have to find that.

6) next i have put some videos of some birds, nature, deep water, peacocks, flowers etc. Which is representing beauty of nature. And reflect the tone that world is beautiful place to live. We just need eye sight to admire it.

Here, I elaborate all the videos according to my understanding. And try to interprete each video. Give your interpretation about any video, in comment section.

(2) Which Poem/Song of Bob Dylan/Robert Frost is relatable with your Video. Why?

Poem, "The Road Not Taken", by ROBERT FROST, is relatable with my poem according to me. Here is the poem :

Poem

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

The poem is also talks about hope and fath. It says That, choose the road which is not taken by anyone eles. And make your own new identity. Similarly my videos are about hope and trust in oneself and also the video of puppies reflect the theme of this poem.

I hope my blog will be helpful to you. Thank you!
