Biography :-
Anita mazumdar is an Indian Novelist and the proffesor of Humanities at the Massachusetts institute of technology.anita was born in mussoorie, India, and spent her childhood in Delhi.Her parents had met in Germany when her father was studying there, and they moved back to his home of India in the 1029s.her mother was German and father was Indian so she grew up speaking German, Bengali, Hindi and urdu. She only learned English when she went to a mission school.
In 1958,Anita Desai married ashwin Desai. And they had four children. One of her daughter named kiran desai won the man booker prize in 2006.

Anita desai published her first short story at the age of 20.her first novel was "cry, the peacock"(1963).
She also wrote other many famous novels like:

Even she taught in Cambridge, Oxford, smith, Mount Holyoke, and MIT. She is also a member of the Royal society of literature and the American academy of Arts and Letters.
