Ajanta Caves


Preface :-

The Ajanta caves, are a Buddhist caves, complex in state of Maharashtra, India. This are the sequence of 29 caves. This all caves are made up by cutting 30 rocks, dating from the 2nd century BCE to about 480 CE.

Khodidas parmar art gallery :- 

Art gallery is also called as a art museum. The concept art museum is used to display art in various city. Where art lovers comes together to see various art, like sculptures, paintings or other. Similarly in Bhavnagar. we have khodidas parmar Art gallery. Where at 26/9/2021, sunday. Amul parmar, a one of the major figure of bhavena, used to organized painting exhibition. Where he put many of the famous paintings of ajanta caves. Which were painted by some of the famous painters. The group of painters drawn in same manner and in such particular method of paintings, are called "gharana".

   I am personally not visited to the art gallery, but the painting pictures mesmerised me and lead me to search more about the Ajanta caves and it's paintings. So here i put some information about Ajanta caves and the art of it.



Ajanta : the Attraction for tourist :-

    Ajanta is one of the major tourist attraction of Maharashtra, it is about 6 kilometers (37 miles) from the city Jalgaon, Maharashtra, India. 104 kilometers from the city of aurangabad. Ajanta is 100 kilometers from the Ellora caves, which contain Hindu, Jain and Buddhist caves. The ajanta style is also found in the Ellora caves and other sites, such as the Elephanta caves, Aurangabad caves, Shivleni Caves and the cave temples of Karnataka.

UNESCO World heritage sight :-

    The caves of ajanta set into the Aurangabad district and since 1983 have been a world heritage sight. Thousands of people used to came and visited the sight. The ajanta caves include paintings and rock cut sculptures, which described as among the finest surviving examples of ancient Indian Art. Particularly expressive paintings that presents emotions through the gestures, pose and form.

Structure of the caves :-

     The caves cut into the mountain, form a horseshoe shape around the wangorah River. They are an example of one of Indian's unique artist traditions known as rock cut temple. Ajanta consist of thirty caves, each dedicated to the life of Buddha.The caves are mainly famous as a masterpiece of Buddhist religious art. Into the 75 Meter, the big worshipping halls are located which are reflects the different Buddhist Traditions. The caves are presents the paintings depicting the past lives, pictorial tales from Aryasura's Jalakamala, Big sculpture of Shiva, and rock cut sculptures of Buddhist deities. Even a rock cut sculptures of hindu god and goddesses.


Paintings of Ajanta :-

The ajanta paintings are very much unique and famous. There are various material paint used in Ajanta caves. The paintings are lasting so many years. Were created from 200 BC to 650 AD. The process begun with rough stone surface being coated with thick coating of a past made from clay, cow - dung, Animal hair, vegitable fiber, the next, a finer layer of smooth white lime was applied. Before this was dry, the artists quickly traced the pictures using red cinnabar, which they then filled in with an slightly rubbery layer of terre - verte. They also use natural colors, made out from various leaf and flowers, around the area. 

  Red ochre, yellow ochre, Brown ochre, lamp black, white, and lapis were the main colours, which were used which were imported from Northern India, Central Asia and Persia. All the walls and pilasters are covered by overlapping figures, brought to life with bright and contrasting colour by the artists.
 Who try to destroyed Ajanta caves? :- 
 
  In 1682, A muslim ruler Aurangzeb hired 1000 workers for three year only to destroy this temple completely. But is it a rumour or reality is still debated.
Conclusion :- 

     Ajanta caves and it's unique paintings are still world famous, and many of the well - known poet draw such kind of paintings which are located into the Ajanta caves. And spread our old bequeath to all around the world. Ajanta is most important part of world heritage, and it is very important to preserve it well.
